Windows

Windows XP - Step by Step Guide

If you use Windows XP, you will need Windows XP with Service Pack 2. If you don’t have Service Pack 2, please download it from here (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/sp2/default.mspx) and install it before setting up Sinhala.

Okay, since you have Service Pack 2 installed, let’s proceed. Download the file below and setup it.

After Installation, you’ll get the Language Bar. You can switch the language to Sinhala start typing!

The default is the Wijesekara Keyboard. But if you have no experience with this keyboard, you can try out the Garp Uniphonic Driver or SinhalaKey Addon for Firefox.

Firefox 2 doesn’t render Sinhala properly. Get Firefox 3 from www.mozilla.com - A Sinhala version Firefox is also available


Windows Vista - Step by Step Guide

Sinhala Support is already included in Vista. But you must install the Quick Fix to type Sinhala properly in Wijesekara.

Pre XP Windows Versions (read only support)

For pre Windows XP versions such as Windows 98 and 2000, install this read only Sinhala pack : http://www.siyabas.lk/english/files/Sinhala IE1.0.exe

Please note that pre-XP Sinhala support is very limited. It’s read only.
